Due to its active ingredient, it works to eliminate a wide range of perennial and annual broadleaf and grassy weeds by inhibiting cell division to prevent growth of weeds. This product is very effective against Virginia Buttonweed , and is safe to use on Zoysia . The active ingredient of this product is the same as the herbicide formerly sold under the trade name “Manor”. In my experience, Zoysia is quite tolerant of this herbicide at the recommended rates as long as ambient temperatures are under 85F. Spot spraying during summer also doesn’t seem to harm the turf grass.

As for the other weeds in my yard, the first application quickly killed the clover and other weeds I didn’t even notice were growing until I saw the brown, dead remains. The package says it will kill Bahia, but so far it hasn’t had much of an impact on it. It didn’t have any negative impact on my St. Augustine grass either.
It's a great product, and I don't consider it to be expensive for how effective it is. This product has become a part of my lawn care arsenal, should I get more weeds in the future. If applications are made in late summer, MSM Turf Herbicide should not be applied again until the spring of the following year.

It took about three to four weeks to completely die off and I didn't need a second application. I'm very happy with the results of this product. It didn't harm any of the grass species in my yard, just the weeds. I applied the prescription rate on my St Augustine grass yard in Jacksonville, Florida to control the dollar weed, and it did not appear to kill any of the weed after three weeks.
The minimum amount of MSM that you can measure and mix for spot treatment requires 4 gallons of water. I think the Bahai grass has yellowed and growth has slowed. Definitely some crabgrass has turned brown. Can’t see any yellowing of Bermuda grass yet so I think the lawn grass will stay healthy. It’s uncertain if the Bahai will actually die. I have dollar weed, nutgrass, grass burrs, crabgrass, some very broad bladed grass , some other sedge looking grass aside from nutgrass.
Pest Control Resources
This is an excellent herbicide for use in warm season grasses such as bermuda, st augustine, zoysia; etc. It will control wild onion, wild garlic and bluegrass. The only real drawback is that it is slow acting - between 10~14 days. It may also 'stunt' your turfgrass, but I've never had a problem with it recovering. Finally, it only takes a small amount to control an acre.
Although not labeled for poa annua, it works for poa annua. I've worked in the industry for 17 years, the same ingredient is what we used on poa annua and fescue clumps. It's not the quickest, but it does work, and at a cost effective price. I use it on zoysia up to .67 oz per acre with no ill effects to turf.

I sprayed directly on the leaves of dollarweed, which had taken over my yard. Fortunately, I do not have any fruit trees or other food species in my yard. I saw the Dollarweed and other species of weeds start to die within 4 days, turning yellow at the beginning.
